Diane McEachern (left) is an Assistant Professor for the University of Alaska at the Kuskokwim campus in Bethel, Alaska.  She teaches in and coordinates statewide and regional cohort programs designed for rural Native Alaskan adult learners (representing many tribes) who work within their rural communities as human service providers.  She is a licensed clinical social worker and came to Alaska to work at “cross cultural social work in a wilderness setting” and was thus an itinerant social worker traveling to villages throughout western Alaska before becoming a Professor.  She launched her cross cultural interests as a Peace Corps Volunteer in a remote mountainous area of the Philippines where she lived with the Ibaloi people for 4 years.  Currently she is a doctoral student at Lesley University in Educational studies with a focus on the domain of  indigenous knowledge(s) and continues to live and teach in rural western Alaska.

Kathryn Nielsen-Dube (right) is a member of the Communication Arts and Sciences department at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts where she serves as the Assistant Director of the Merrimack College Writing Center, as well as a Second Language Writing Specialist.  Kathryn teaches College Writing in face to face and blended formats, Composition Theory, Cross Cultural Interactions First Year Seminar, Expository Writing Challenge for M.Ed. students, and the newly designed Issues and Topics in Second Language Writing - all using technology and writing intensive formats.  She is professionally affiliated with CCCC, NCTE, TESOL, IWCA, AAUW, and the Writing Lab Newsletter.  Kathryn's research interests include Adult and Transformative Learning , Rhetoric and Composition, Critical and Constructivist theory and praxis, and Second Language Acquistion.
