Bio

Bio

I am a PhD student at the University of South Florida. I became interested in critical pedagogy and social justice issues when I took the my first class with Valerie Janesick. Her courses started me on a path that I continue on today. My research is centered on how undergraduate social science teacher educators form their views concerning civic education. I want to see if their ideas about teaching civic education change as they progress toward in their educational journey.

I would love to believe that undergraduate social science pre-service teachers are exposed to critical pedagogy and take it to heart as they begin their journey as teacher. However, I am a realist and know that this is not always so.
