Greetings to you and all our relatives
My name is Kim (Mr just in case). I am a teacher researcher of non-indigenous (Pakeha) descent for Te Wananga o Aotearoa Porirua Campus. Our institution is one of the three recognised indigenous universities in New Zealand. I teach and research social work bi-culturalism in practice. I have a special interest in developing a paradigm of social work which enhances and restores and protects the relationship between settler (Pakeha) and indigenous (Maori) people which honours the spirit and intent of the Treaty of Waitangi. My special interest is in the matua whangai programme which gifted the special cultural aspects of our child protection legislation which have been colonised copted and missappropriated by non-Maori academics and practitioners and handed back as corrupted practice.
I have been a social worker for 30 years and in light of this history I believe we need a completely critical re-appraisal of our research, policy, operations and practice methods. The work on bricolage seems to hold a significant possibility for this project.
I am lloking to engage with anyone in this project especially in how to apply these ethods to my teaching and research.
